The IPL is preparing for its 17th season, which will begin on March 22. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal has announced that the popular tournament will last until May 26, even though the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are happening at the same time.
Dhumal announced that the IPL 2024 Kick Off schedule will be released in stages because of the upcoming general elections. At first, only the fixtures for the first 15 days will be shared, with the rest of the matches to be announced after the election dates are revealed in early March.
“We plan to start the tournament on March 22. We are collaborating with government agencies and will release the initial schedule first. The whole tournament will take place in India,” said Dhumal.
When asked about the possibility of announcing match venues overseas, Dhumal responded, “It won’t take place overseas. We’re waiting for the Lok Sabha election dates to plan the venues accordingly.”
